Bluehost and Ehost are two popular web hosting providers on the market.

However, ehost is now closed for business. Therefore, Bluehost is the clear winner in the comparison.

For years, both companies offered a variety of features and services that can accommodate a wide range of website needs. However, there were some key differences between the two companies.

Here is a chart that highlights their major similarities and differences:

BluehostEhost (Now closed for business)
Unmetered bandwidthAffordable web hosting plans (Both are affordable)
Free SSL certificateOne free domain for the first year
User-friendly control panelUnlimited storage space and bandwidth
One-click WordPress installationDrag and drop website builder
24/7 customer support30-day money-back guarantee
Bluehost vs Ehost Comparison Chart

Based on this chart, here are the reasons I always go with Bluehost:

  • Bluehost is still open for business (Ehost is now closed for business)
  • Bluehost is affordable (One of the cheapest hosting sites on the market)
  • The One-click WordPress installation saves so much time (and sanity)
  • The free SSL Certificate saves money and time finding an SSL some other place
  • Their customer support is top-notch (They’ve helped me with so many issues over the years)

Therefore, if you’re looking for the best cheap blog hosting platform for a new website, you really can’t go wrong with Bluehost.

Bluehost vs Ehost: Hosting Features Comparison

As you’ve seen in the comparison chart, Bluehost offers a wide range of features for its users, including unlimited storage space, bandwidth, and email accounts.

Additionally, Bluehost offers a full refund within the first month of your subscription and round-the-clock customer support.

Ehost is closed for business so it can no longer provide unlimited storage space and bandwidth.

Unlimited storage comes in handy as you add more pages and blog posts to your website. However, if you only plan to build a small site with a few pages or posts, then this feature doesn’t really matter to you.

Ehost used to offer a full refund within the first month of your subscription if you don’t feel satisfied with the service, and continuous customer support.

That’s a nice bonus for bloggers who want to check out their service without a long-term commitment.

Bluehost is the better (and only) option for users who need unlimited storage space and bandwidth, a free email account, and a free SSL certificate.

Bluehost & Ehost: Speed Comparison

There are many different factors that you need to consider when choosing a web host, but speed is one of the most important.

This is because the faster your website loads, the more likely people are to stay on your page and the more likely you are to get conversions. A fast website not only provides a better user experience but can also help improve your search engine ranking.

We’ll compare the speed of Bluehost and Ehost.

When Ehost was still up and running, both companies offered relatively fast speeds for new websites, but Bluehost is slightly faster than Ehost. In our tests, Bluehost had an average speed of 0.41 milliseconds, while Ehost had an average speed of 0.661milli seconds.

So if you’re looking for a slightly faster web hosting company, Bluehost is the way to go.

In addition, Bluehost uses a technology called Solid State Drives (SSDs), which are known for their speed and reliability. Ehost does not use SSDs, so their speeds may vary depending on the type of drives they are using.

While the difference in speed is not huge, every millisecond counts when it comes to web performance.

Overall, Bluehost has a slight edge in terms of speed. If speed is your top priority, then I’d go with Bluehost.

Bluehost & Ehost: Price Comparison

To help you make your decision, we’ve put together a price comparison of Bluehost vs Ehost for shared hosting, VPS hosting, and dedicated server hosting.

Keep in mind, that Ehost is now closed for business.

Here is a quick price comparison chart before we dive into the details:

Hosting TypeBluehost PriceEhost Price
Shared Hosting$2.95$12.95
VPS Hosting$24.99$18.99 (Discontinued Service)
Dedicated Hosting$99.99$59.00
Bluehost vs Ehost: Price Comparison Chart

Personally, I always start new websites on Bluehost with shared hosting.

Then, I move them to other hosting platforms when the site grows to 50,000 pageviews per month.

Shared Hosting

Shared hosting is a popular and affordable way to get your website up and running.

You can think of it as renting space on a server that is shared with other websites. Shared Hosting is a great option for small businesses and personal websites that do not need the power or resources of a VPS or Dedicated Server.

Because you’ll be sharing the server resources with other users, the cost is spread out.

Shared hosting is also very easy to set up and use, which makes it a great option for those who are not familiar with web hosting.

One downside of shared hosting is that it can be slower than other types of hosting.

Another downside is that shared hosting does not offer the same level of customization or control as VPS or Dedicated Servers.

Here is the price comparison for shared hosting:

  • Bluehost offers shared hosting for $2.95 a month. This plan contains TEN gigabytes (GB) of SSD of storage.
  • Ehost offers shared hosting for $12.95 a month. This plan includes 30 GB of storage.

VPS Hosting

A VPS service gives you more control and flexibility over your web presence.

Unlike shared hosting, a VPS allows you to customize your environment to better suit your needs.

Here is the price comparison for VPS hosting:

  • Bluehost offers VPS service at $24.99 for a month.
  • Ehost used to offer VPS hosting for $18.99 per month but that was discontinued before they closed their business.

Dedicated Servers

A dedicated server is a single physical server that is leased to a single customer.

The customer has full control over the server and is responsible for its maintenance and security. Dedicated servers are usually more expensive than shared servers, but they offer greater performance, security, and flexibility.

Dedicated servers are often used by large businesses or organizations that require a high level of security and performance. Dedicated servers are also popular with web hosting companies, as they can offer their customers a higher level of service and support.

Here is the price comparison for Dedicated Server hosting:

  • Bluehost’s dedicated server plans start at $99.99 per month for the Standard plan.
  • Ehost used to offer a dedicated server plan for $50.00 before they shut down.

Bluehost & Ehost: Customer Support Comparison

Customer support is important for any business, but it’s especially crucial for web hosting companies.

After all, your website is the heart of your online presence, and if something goes wrong, you need to be able to reach out to someone who can help you fix the problem as quickly as possible.

That’s why we’ve taken a closer look at the customer support offerings from Bluehost and Ehost.

Read on to see how they compare in terms of features, response times, and overall satisfaction. The spoiler is that Bluehost is the only hosting company of the two that is still in operation so it wins best customer support by default.

However, from personal experience, I can say that I’ve been very happy with the Bluehost support team.

Customer Support Features

In the past, both Bluehost and Ehost offered round-the-clock customer support through live chat and by email. Bluehost still does.

However, Bluehost goes a step further by also offering support via Twitter.

Ehost does have a knowledge base where you can find helpful articles and tutorials, but it’s not as comprehensive as Bluehost’s.

You can also submit a ticket to Bluehost and their team will respond to you within 1-2 business days.

Response Times

When Ehost was still in business, both companies offered quick responses to customer inquiries. In our experience, Bluehost was slightly faster to respond to live chat requests, while Ehost was slightly faster to respond to email inquiries.

Since Ehost is no longer open, their response time is not applicable anymore.

As a serial customer of Bluehost, I have contacted their support team by email, chat, and phone on many occasions. They have always gotten back to me very quickly.

With chat, the response time is a few seconds or minutes.

For emails, I usually get a response in 24-48 hours, which is about all you can ask for from a hosting platform.

Overall Satisfaction

Back in the day, both companies offer high-quality customer support, but Bluehost’s chat and Twitter support and more comprehensive knowledge base give it a slight edge in this category.

Today, Bluehost continues to innovate and improve its customer support team.

Bluehost vs Ehost: 7 Things You Need To Know

Here are 7 things you need to know about Bluehost vs Ehost:

1) Proposed by WordPress

Bluehost is promoted by WordPress.

That’s because they’re a reliable and affordable option with great customer support. Plus, when you create an account for their hosting plans they offer a free domain name and SSL certificate which is a great bonus.

Ehost, on the other hand, is not recommended by WordPress.

While they’re also a reliable and affordable option, they don’t offer the same level of customer support or freebies that Bluehost does.

2) Ease of use

Bluehost and Ehost both offer user-friendly control panels that make it easy to manage your website.

However, Bluehost’s control panel is slightly simpler and more intuitive than Ehost’s. Plus, you can make many more customizations with Bluehost.

3) Uptime

In the past, both providers offered reliable uptime, but Bluehost’s uptime is slightly better than Ehost’s.

Of course, Ehost is no longer in business so they have 0 uptime now.

Bluehost is usually up but I have had a few short periods of downtime over the years. It has never tanked my traffic or destroyed my website.

4) Security

Before Ehost discontinued its platform, both providers provided robust security features, including malware and DDoS protection.

I’ve never had a problem with Bluehost security.

5) Scalability

It’s important to choose a hosting platform that makes it easy to upgrade your plan as your website grows.

Ehost is not around so you can’t scale with them.

Bluehost’s scalability options are flexible and useful for up to around 50k pageviews per month (in my opinion). Then, you might want to migrate your site to another host.

6) Migration

Bluehost offers a free website migration service that makes it easy to transfer your website from another provider.

Even while it was still open, Ehost did not offer this service.

7) Industry-Standard Control Panels

Like most web hosting providers, Bluehost and Ehost both use industry-standard control panels to manage your account.

However, they differ in which control panel they use.

Bluehost uses the cPanel control panel while Ehost used the vDeck control panel.

cPanel is the most common control panel among hosting providers. It is packed with features and is very user-friendly. vDeck, on the other hand, is a less popular control panel but it still offers a suite of helpful features.

However, it can be a little more difficult to use than cPanel, but once you get the hang of it, it’s not too bad.

Since Ehost is no longer around, here is a good video that talks about many of the reasons I like Bluehost:

Alternative Hosting Companies

There are many alternative hosting companies to choose from if you’re not satisfied with Bluehost.

Some of the most popular include:

  1. WPX
  2. HostArmada
  3. SiteGround
  4. InMotion Hosting
  5. A2 Hosting
  6. GreenGeeks
  7. iPage
  8. FatCow
  9. JustHost
  10. HostGator
  11. Arvixe
  12. DreamHost

When choosing an alternative host, be sure to compare features and pricing to find the best fit for your needs.

Also, read customer reviews to get a sense of the company’s reputation. And if you have any questions, be sure to contact customer support before signing up.

I use WPX and HostArmada on my portfolio of sites, so I can vouch for them.
